So, you’ve got a place to live, but now it’s time to furnish your new pad. What’s a budget-conscious student to do?
Fear not. For those renting a house off-campus for the first time, there’s a chance that the previous tenant is more than happy to sell you their furniture. This option is cheap and easy for all involved. Make sure to tell your new landlord you’re buying the furniture, so he or she doesn’t trash it when cleaning in between tenants.
On a similar note, buildings housing many students, such as Hamilton Court, have rental furniture available for prices that beat the hassle of hauling a bed up a flight of stairs.
Many students head down to Swedish cult fave IKEA, located at 2206 S. Columbus Blvd. to pick up inexpensive, easy-to-assemble and trendy furniture sets and decorations.
A perennial parental pick is Target, just a few miles away and conveniently located near IKEA at 1 Mifflin St. What better way to burn those Target cards you got from Uncle Fred for graduation than on your very own five-headed floor lamp with multicolored shades?
