Good news for the Penn sprint football team: it has already beaten Cornell this season. Bad news: The Quakers are coming off of their first loss of the season at the hands of Army in West Point, N.Y.

Penn will try to make it a clean sweep of the Big Red when Cornell comes to Franklin Field tonight at 7. In the teams’ last meeting, Penn’s season-opener, the Red and Blue won 20-14 in Ithaca, N.Y.

Two of Penn’s players are coming off stellar performances in the 35-26 loss to the Black Knights. Junior quarterback Todd Busler was named Collegiate Sprint Football League Offensive Player of the Week for his 429-yard performance last Friday. He went 27-for-42 with two touchdowns, including a 76 yarder.

Kicker Raiam Dos Santos earned CSFL Special Teams Player of the Week honors after going 4-for-4 on field goals.

Penn’s offense is No. 1 in the CSFL, as it averages 485 yards per game. Busler’s 10 touchdown passes top the league as well, while his favorite target Whit Shaw leads the conference in all receiving categories.

Cornell proved that it has offensive prowess of its own last week in a 44-0 rout of Princeton. The Big Red’s strength lies in its ground game — they have outrushed opponents 848-177 this season.

Looks like this rematch has the makings to be a high-scoring contest.
