The men's lacrosse team played what may have been its best lacrosse of the season, but came up just short of upsetting No. 2 Princeton, falling 10-9 in overtime.
Princeton senior attack Tommy Davis scored the game-winner - his fourth goal of the game - 1:30 into the extra period to give the Tigers the win.
The goal came on the first possession of overtime, after Princeton won the faceoff on a questionable pushing call. Sophomore attack Jack McBride fed Davis on the side, who blasted a shot past Penn goalie Joe Hegener.
The Quakers (2-7, 1-3 Ivy) took a 6-4 lead into halftime, but the Tigers (9-1, 2-0) came out of the break hot, knotting the game up at 7-7 midway through the third period.
Davis's third score gave Princeton the lead with just over four minutes remaining, but Penn sophomore midfielder Al Kohart answered as the final minute of play was announced. The Quakers had a chance to win it at the end of regulation, but Garvey Heiderman's wrap-around shot deflected off Princeton goalie Tyler Fiorito's helmet.
Senior Drew Collins led the way for Penn, notching three goals. And Penn sophomore Justin Lynch was crucial on faceoffs, winning 15 of 23.
