In this economic crisis, a dollar can barely buy an item at the food carts on Spruce - but tomorrow, one dollar can purchase a gourmet sub.
Jimmy John's, located at 3925 Walnut St., will be selling its signature subs for only a dollar from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from midnight to 3 a.m. tomorrow.
Although it opened last November, Jimmy John's opted for a better-late-than-never approach: tomorrow's deal will serve as its official grand opening, said franchise owner Brett Weinheimer, a 2000 Wharton alumnus.
College sophomore Rob Warfield said he was thrilled upon discovering the event.
"You know I'll be first in line to get my number nine," he said referring to the #9 Italian Night Club on the menu, tucked with salami and provolone cheese.
Weinheimer said the event highlights their late-night hours.
The restaurant is open until 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, making it a place for students to come "very late at night after a long night of studying or a party," Weinheimer said.
Plus, students can order online through the Jimmy John's Web site or even from Facebook.
