ALBANY, N.Y. -- The men's basketball team trailed Albany by just three points at the half but couldn't keep up its strong play, ultimately losing, 73-63.
For the second time in as many games, the Quakers were overmatched by their opponent's backcourt. The Great Danes' duo of Anthony Raffa and Tim Ambrose combined for 41 points on 15-for-25 shooting from the field. Raffa did his damage from beyond the arc, nailing three treys in a five-minute span in the second half to give Albany an 11-point lead.
Penn (1-4) used an effective full-court press to try and chip away at the lead but could never get closer than seven points down as both teams traded field goals and free throws.
Tyler Bernardini led the Quakers with 19 points on 4-for-10 shooting (9-for-13 from the line). After a 5-for-6, 10-point first-half, teammate Jack Eggleston finished with 13 points on 6-for-13 shooting. Freshman point guard Zack Rosen racked up eight assists and 12 points.
