The new face of Student Health Service is just what the doctor ordered.
Thanks to the new facilities at 3535 Market St., SHS can handle more patients any day. The new space more than doubles the number of patient rooms and gives clinicians, nurses, administrative staff and other employees more room to go about their respective business. And with a location much closer to the heart of campus, the center will prove more accessible to students.
The former space on 34th Street, with its shabby, outdated decor and basement entrance, did not accurately represent the outstanding care provided by the SHS team of physicians, nurse practitioners and physician's assistants.
Besides providing a more aesthetically pleasing experience, the new facilities decrease the amount of time patients must wait before seeing a clinician. Increasing the number of spaces for different services offered by SHS effectively improves the efficiency of every visit to Student Health.
We commend the administration for listening to the concerns of students and ensuring a smooth transition to this state-of-the-art facility.
