From the University's announcement of its eastward expansion to the recent spike in crime, The Daily Pennsylvanian's 123rd Board of Editors and Managers has had no shortage of news to report on.
After a year, it's finally time for a new board of ambitious editors and managers to take the reins.
This Saturday, the 124th Board of Editors and Managers will be inaugurated at the DP's annual banquet.
Penn Executive Vice President Craig Carnaroli and Dave Lieber, a columnist for the Fort Worth Star Telegram and former DP columnist, will be addressing an audience of more than 250 DP staffers at the Inn at Penn.
David Lei, a Wharton sophomore from New York City, will be the new executive editor on the 124th Board. Lei, who started at the DP as an advertising representative, previously served as the Web Editor in Chief. Having worked on both the business and editorial sides, Lei hopes to "transform the DP into a news organization, not only in how we operate internally but also in how we interact with the community."
He hopes to broaden the DP's initiatives online, particularly the DP's efforts with multimedia. Specifically, he hopes to "better integrate dailypennsylvanian.com into the fabric of the print publication."
Reaching out to the community will also be a top priority for him as he hopes to "make the DP more accessible and supportive to those interested in pursuing careers in journalism."
Juliette Mullin, a College sophomore from Portland, Oregon, will be managing editor. She will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the daily print edition.
Alex Raksin, a Wharton junior from Omaha, will oversee the business operations as the incoming Business Manager. Raksin previously served as the Advertising Manager.
Former 34th Street Managing Editor and College junior Kerry Golds will be leading the DP's arts and entertainment magazine. She will be joined by Julia Rubin and Sarah Beth McKay.
Other new editors include Ashwin Shandilya, Lindsey Stull, Paul Richards, Rebecca Kaplan, Emily Babay, Alissa Eisenberg, Brandon Moyse, David Gurian-Peck, Allison Britt, Naomi Tarlow, Ashley Takacs, Ryan Leske, Rebeca Martinez, Priscilla des Gachons, Albert Sun and Thomas Jansen.
Incoming members of the business board include Nicholas Smith Wang, Vivian Adams, Abby Weng, Rachel Cohen, Ashley Tyson and Tiffany Zhou.
