Anita Berrizbeitia, a professor at the Penn School of Design, won the Foundation for Landscape Studies 2007 J. B. Jackson Book Prize for her work, Roberto Burle Marx in Caracas: Parque del Este,1956-1961.
The 120-page book, published by the University, looks at the garden designs of Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx.
It also offers an in-depth look at Venezuelan and Latin American landscapes.
The book prize honors books that contribute to the understanding and research of garden history and landscape architecture studies.
Berrizbeitia currently teaches design studios, theory, workshop and the landscape studio in the undergraduate architecture program.
She is also the associate department chairwoman of landscape architecture in Penn's School of Design.
