The Center for Community Partnerships received a $10 million gift from alumnus Edward Netter, boosting to one of Penn's most acclaimed programs.
The CCP has also been renamed the center the Barbara and Edward Netter Center for Community Partnerships after Edward, a 1953 College graduate, and his wife.
"One of Penn's great strengths lies in our ability to work hand-in-hand with our West Philadelphia neighbors to improve lives," Penn President Amy Gutmann said in a press release. "This extraordinarily generous gift . will enable Penn students, faculty and staff to deepen and expand this creative and dynamic partnership."
Founded in 1992, the CCP has had great success in revitalizing the West Philadelphia community, mainly through its academic-based community-service programs and relationships with several elementary and secondary schools in the area.
The gift will be used to both expand its community school programs, as well as increase the number of CCP staff.
