Chair and professor of Biostatistics and Epidemiology Brian Strom has been appointed vice dean for institutional affairs in the School of Medicine and senior adviser to the provost for global health initiatives, according to a press release from the Office of the Provost.
Strom assumed both newly created positions yesterday.
Within the School of Medicine, Strom will oversee the school's collaboration with the Philadelphia Veterans Administration Medical Center as well as the development of research opportunities.
As senior advisor to the Provost, Strom will further the University's global-health initiative by coordinating University-wide public-health activities and helping develop new programs abroad.
"Brian will be a tremendous partner in all our public health initiatives," said Provost Ron Daniels. "His appointment to these new roles both recognizes his outstanding leadership and gives us all an opportunity to advance our collaborative work in this vital area."
