Computer Information and Science professor Sanjeev Khanna has been awarded with a Guggenheim Fellowship in honor of his work in theoretical computer science, University officials announced yesterday.
Khanna's field specializes in the computer resources needed for certain computational tasks, like the analysis of algorithm complexity.
"It is extremely gratifying to see Dr. Khanna's work recognized alongside the work of other distinguished scholars," said Eduardo Glandt, dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Science, in a press statement.
The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, which issues the fellowship, grants financial aid to scholars, artists and writers pursuing research in a wide range of 78 fields.
Awards are given based on recommendations from hundreds of advisors and are officially approved by the Foundation's Board of Trustees.
