Prosecutors' initially said they would retry Wharton undergraduate Irina Malinovskaya a third time for first-degree murder.
But defense lawyers say they haven't heard anything else about a retrial. Meanwhile, Malinovskaya is still in jail in Delaware.
Malinovskaya's most recent trial ended after a 6-6 deadlock among the jurors could not be broken despite extensive deliberations. Her first trial also concluded with a hung jury that was 11-1 in favor of acquittal.
According to Mary Burnell, one of Malinovskaya's lawyers, prosecutors have not yet contacted them about a plea agreement or about their intention to retry Malinovskaya.
"Everything's status quo at the moment," Burnell said.
She also said that it appears that Malinovskaya's family wants Burnell and Eugene Maurer, another Malinovskaya lawyer, to remain involved in the case.
Malinovskaya is charged with the Dec. 23, 2004, murder of Temple pharmacology student Irina Zlotnikov, who was found dead in the New Castle, Del., apartment of Zlotnikov's boyfriend, Robert Bondar.
Bondar had previously been in a relationship with Malinovskaya.
The prosecutors involved in the case could not be reached for comment.
