For months now, the future of one of the University's most enjoyable traditions has been in danger.
As students were told last April, Hey Day could be coming to an end. Administrators said students' behavior last year was so deplorable that the tradition would be significantly different this year.
However, the situation seems to be changing for the better.
University officials met with representatives from the Class of 2008 last week to discuss Hey Day. More importantly, administrators told students there is a "clean slate of possibilities."
Students want Hey Day to continue, and it's good to see administrators showing flexibility.
Penn undergrads demonstrated they were willing to work with the administration during Spring Fling, and that cooperation paid off with a safer Fling. The administration should continue to work with undergrads to save Hey Day - no one should be kept in the dark.
Furthermore, the school should involve more than just the junior class in the discussion. Hey Day has evolved into a celebration for the entire University.
And the entire University wants to see it continue.
