There's nothing better than a free ride.
This weekend, NJ Transit will allow college students to use its system for no cost, provided they fill out a brief online survey on NJ Transit's Web site.
Many students have headed home for religious holidays, and many ride the rail service run by NJ Transit to places around New Jersey, as well as to New York City. Not including the $14 fare to ride SEPTA to Trenton, students traveling to and from New York can save $23 by using the college student pass.
This is the second time this year that NJ Transit has offered a deal to college students. The transit company, which runs the third-largest rail system in the nation, is using the offer as a way to expose college students to its service.
"We want students to discover how comfortable and convenient using NJ Transit can be," NJ Transit Assistant Executive Director Lynn Bowersox said in a press release.
The deal, which also includes bus service, ends Sunday, giving students enough time to get a free ride and make it back to campus for Monday classes.
The survey can be found at http:www.njtransit.comnn_college.shtml.
