Attempted Robbery
June 9 -- A 22 year-old male student was walking on the 4000 block of Irving Street at about 10:40 p.m. when he was approached by two men who asked for his cell phone. The student, who suffered minor scrapes, ran away from them, and they fled the scene. They were both described as 18 to 22 years old with dark complexions and short hair.
Robbery
June 12 -- A 21 year-old female student was walking with a friend on the 3800 block of Locust Walk when she was approached by three or four men riding bicycles. One knocked her down and another grabbed her cell phone before they fled on their bicycles. A 14 year-old male was arrested and charged with robbery and theft in relation to the case.
Theft
June 9 -- A 31 year-old Penn employee reported her bicycle, valued at $200, missing from a rack at 3815 Spruce St. She secured her bike at about 7 p.m. on June 8 and returned at about 7 a.m. on June 9 to fine the cable lock cut and bicycle gone.
June 9 -- A 40 year-old female University employee reported that a woman took her credit cards while she was at Starbucks at 3401 Walnut St. A man and woman who were near her fled the scene, and the woman dropped the credit cards. Police stopped and arrested Gena Galloway of the 3800 block of Aspen Street and charged her with theft in relation to this incident.
June 9 -- A 22 year-old male University employee reported items valued at $1,800 taken from his locked car at 300 S. 33rd St. He had parked his car at about 11 p.m. June 8 and returned at about 3 a.m. that night to find the door lock tampered with and the car's windows down.
June 9 -- A 19 year-old male student reported that he had parked his car on the 4000 block of Pine Street on June 8 and returned the next morning to find the passenger side window broken and his CD player, valued at $300, missing.
June 11 -- A 21 year-old male student reported that his bicycle, valued at $150, was taken from the lobby of The Fresh Grocer at 4001 Walnut St. The man had left his bicycle unattended and unsecured at about 3 p.m. and came back soon after to find it gone.
Vandalism
June 11 -- A Penn security officer reported seeing a man damaging side view mirrors on the 4000 block of Pine Street. Steven Haldeman of the 600 block of S. 2nd Street was arrested for criminal mischief.
June 11 -- An unknown person threw two bricks through a window at New Style Pizza at 4060 Chestnut St. the night of June 10. The damage was estimated at $200.
