The day is finally near. On Monday, every member of the Class of 2006 will assemble at Franklin Field for commencement festivities celebrating their graduation from the University. Parents will cry, students will throw their caps in the air, and seniors will savor their last hours as college students.

And the journey that began the day each member of the Class of 2006 mailed in their red-and-blue application four and a half years ago will finally seem complete -- that is, until students remember that this is not the end; it's just the beginning.

This year's graduating class will be the 250th in Penn's history. In that time, students have gone on to amazing achievements, and each accomplishment has held importance for the University -- because being a Penn student doesn't end when students take off their caps and gowns.

You are a Penn student for life.

Every future accomplishment and every future misstep will become a part of Penn's history, culture and legacy. But far from being a burden, this a blessing.

You can finally put to use all the skills and talents gained at this University and show the world what great people Penn students can become.

Whatever your next step may be, the future is bright. After all, you're a Penn student.
