To the Editor:
Although I am not an alumnus of Penn, my grandfather was. Some of my greatest childhood memories involve attending Penn athletic events with him. It is those experiences that have allowed me to continue to be a Quaker fan long after my grandfather's death.
So when Penn added lights to Rhodes Field, I was excited to to attend soccer games at a more convenient time. However, reality did not match expectations. The behavior of students forced me to take my nine-year-old nephew home early from the game against Cornell. Students running onto the field with their pants down, women with obscene statements handwritten on their shirts and obscene comments being shouted at the players is not what I would call a pleasant evening.
It seems I will be taking my sister's future college student to St. Joseph's or Villanova to enjoy college athletics in a more appropriate setting.
