Riding a 94-match winning streak that dates back to 1998, the No. 1 Trinity College men's squash team will descend on the Ringe Squash Courts tomorrow to face off with No. 7 Penn.

The five-time defending Intercollegiate National champions earned their 94th straight win Wednesday after defeating No. 2 Yale, 6-3, in New Haven, Conn.

"We're looking forward to playing against Trinity," Penn coach Craig Thorpe-Clark said. "You get better by playing the best and Trinity is as good as you get."

The Bantams (4-0) have an international feel to their roster, as nine out of the 16 players on their squad hail from outside the United States -- ranging from Switzerland to Brazil.

Trinity's top six seeded players are all international, including a pair who were two of the top three seeded players in the nation to start the year -- senior Michael Ferreira from the United Kingdom and junior Bernardo Samper from Colombia.

Trinity head coach Paul Assaiante boasts a 152-10 record in his 10 years guiding the Bantams. He also has served as coach of the U.S. squash team at the Pan American Games and at the World Championships.

After dropping their first two matches of the season to Cornell and Western Ontario, the Quakers (4-2, 1-1 Ivy) have rebounded to win four straight, with the last three wins coming on the road. Penn's last home match was a 9-0 win over Brown on Dec. 7.

"We always seem to play better when we are at home," Thorpe-Clark said. "There's a certain level of comfort in playing in your own surroundings."

Penn comes into this imposing matchup after defeating No. 10 Williams and No. 11 Amherst last Saturday, both in convincing fashion -- yielding only one of the 18 matches on the day.

With another top-tier foe in No. 4 Princeton heading to West Philadelphia later in the week, Thorpe-Clark sees the Trinity match as a great opportunity.

"Playing against Trinity is the perfect build-up for us with the Princeton match coming up," he said.

Thorpe-Clark noted that his players are looking forward to playing the nation's best.

In particular, he noted that juniors Richard Repetto and Billy Peele were eager to see how they stand against the top-ranked squad in the country.
