Sophomore guard Patrick Haddan has left the Penn basketball team. His departure came within the past week.
The 6'2", 165-pound Irvine, Calif., native had yet to play this season. He saw action in only two games last year -- playing two minutes against Temple and one minute against Villanova. He recorded an assist in the win over the Owls.
Penn coach Fran Dunphy said that Haddan's decision to leave the team was disappointing.
"It wasn't mutual," Dunphy said. "He made the decision to stop playing. Pat's a talented guy. He's just at a point where he decided not to continue [with the program]."
Haddan, who was recruited out of Woodbridge High School, was a McDonald's All-American nominee and received an honorable mention freshman All-American nod in Street & Smith's.
On the Quakers' trip to Spain this summer, where Penn competed against Spanish professional teams, Haddan averaged 1.2 points and 12.2 minutes per game. He played in five of Penn's six games, and also had four rebounds, seven assists and five steals.
"He's as quick a guy as anybody we have in our program," Dunphy said. "His leaving doesn't help our team."
