Baseball's Glass named Ivy Player of the Week

After batting .478 and knocking in four runners in four Ivy contests last week, the Ivy League honored Penn shortstop Steve Glass for his play with the Ivy Player of the Week award.

The senior is the second consecutive Red and Blue player to earn the title, as Nate Moffie came away with the distinction last week.

Glass is currently fourth on the team in batting average, hitting .353 on the season in 23 games. The senior has 30 hits on the season and is also fourth on the team in on-base percentage, at .461.

Against Temple on April 1 and La Salle on April 2, the senior was blistering from the plate, going 7-for-10 against the Philadelphia rivals, which included his second four-hit game of the season.

Glass crossed home plate four times in Penn's loss against the Explorers, adding another run in the loss to Temple at the Liberty Bell Classic.

The shortstop has also cemented the middle infield along with senior Nick Italiano, providing veteran leadership up the middle when the Quakers take the field.

The Quakers are coming off a sweep of Dartmouth and splitting a doubleheader against Harvard -- both at Murphy Field last weekend.

Penn heads north to play consecutive doubleheaders against Yale and Brown this weekend, before the much-anticipated pair of doubleheaders against Princeton next weekend.

Last year Glass was a second team All-Ivy selection.
