Schiffner honored by Ivy League After nailing 10 three-pointers over the weekend, Penn guard Jeff Schiffner was awarded with the Ivy League player of the Week -- the first such honor of his career. The junior averaged 19.5 points against Brown and Yale. He scored a career-high 26 points against the Elis Saturday night. Coming into the weekend Schiffner was sixth in NCAA college basketball in three-point shooting percentage, but after shooting a torrid 10-for-15 from behind the arc this weekend, Schiffner vaulted into first-place nationally. The guard currently shoots 49.3-percent from long distance. Saint Joseph's swing-man Pat Carroll is second in the NCAA with a 48.6 shooting percentage from deep. Schiffner's 66 threes on the season ties him with Matt Maloney for sixth in Penn history in three-pointers made. Lamar Plummer holds the record with 96. Perry Bromwell is the Quakers' all-time leader in three-point percentage, recording 50.6-percent from behind the three-point line in the 1986-87 season. The Red and Blue's long-ball specialist also leads the squad in free-throw percentage, nailing 56-of-63 free-throws (88.9-percent). Schiffner has averaged 11.7 points-per-game this season in 24 games. The Ivy League-leading Quakers wrap up their season this weekend against Columbia and Cornell, followed by Princeton on Tuesday. Wins against Cornell and Columbia would clinch Penn the league crown. -- Zachary Silver Tickets available for Princeton game Tickets are still available for the Penn-Princeton basketball game in Princeton, N.J., on March 12.
