PROVIDENCE, R.I. - In a rematch of the top two teams in the Ivy League, the Penn men's basketball team held off a late charge to top Brown, 69-65. The Quakers were led by the shooting of Koko Archibong, who scored 17 points and was 7-of-7 from the field. Jeff Schiffner scored 17 and Ugonna Onyekwe added 15. Penn shot 59.5 percent from the field overall. Earl Hunt scored 26 points - 20 of it in the second half - to lead the Bears. They shot 40.7 percent from the field overall, but only hit 9-of-28 shots in the second half. The Bears opened up the game in front of a sellout crowd quickly, going up five early before the Quakers went on an 11-0 run to grab a 19-13 advantage. After Penn opened a 40-33 advantage on a Schiffner three-pointer with two minutes left in the first, the Bears closed the by forcing three Penn turnovers, closing the deficit to two. The Quakers scored the first 10 points of the second half, however, and the Bears did not score until the 14:08 mark. The Penn lead reached its largest at the 12:35 mark when Archibong hit a layup to make it 55-43. Brown slowly crept back into the game, closing the deficit to three with three minutes left after a Hunt steal and layup. The Quakers turned the ball over 20 times in the game. The Bears had two chances to tie the game in the final seconds, but Patrick Powers and Hunt each missed three-pointers and Jeff Schiffner grabbed the rebound of Hunt's three and hit 1-of-2 free throws with 2.2 seconds left to ice the win.
