The Penn men's baskteball team (7-5, 2-1 Big 5) had its four game winning streak snapped by Saint Joseph's (14-2, 2-0 Big 5) Saturday at the Palestra. The Quakers fell 66-48. For the fifth straight game senior forward Ugonna Onyekwe came off the bench for Penn, scoring 13 points in 26 minutes. The story, however, was St. Joe's defense which was superlative, as it has been much of the season. Penn was held to just 17-for-48 shooting, including 4-for-17 from behind the three-point line. Penn's defense kept it reasonably close for much of the game and the Quakers were down only eight, 49-41, with six minutes to go. However, the Hawks went on a nine to four run and the game was never within reach for the Quakers again. Andrew Toole and Jeff Schiffner played well on their respective marks, Jameer Nelson and Delonte West. The Hawks' star guards were held to a combined 10-for-32 shooting. However, forward Pat Carrol picked up the shooting slack, going 5-for-9 from three point range. Each of those shots squelched a Penn comeback attempt and sparked another Hawks run.
