The Penn men's basketball team won its sixth consecutive game on Saturday when it rallied to beat Yale, 72-63, at the Palestra. Penn coach Fran Dunphy recorded his 227th win as the coach of the Quakers, tying him with Lou Jordet for most wins in Penn basketball history.

The Quakers (21-6, 8-3 Ivy League) trailed by as many as 11 in the first half and went into the locker room down, 35-28. The Elis (17-9, 9-3) shot 7 for 16 from the three-point range in the first half, and the Quakers only made one jump shot and missed all nine of their three- point attempts.

The Red and Blue rallied in the second half but still trailed, 57-51, with just over six minutes to play.

But a three-pointer by Koko Archibong and a three-point play from Andrew Toole tied the score, and two Archibong free throws gave Penn a 59-58 lead with 3:09 left to give the Quakers their only lead of the game.

Penn would never trail again, as Tim Begley and Jeff Schiffner made three-poiners on consecutive Penn trips down the court and Toole and Archibong his 7 of 8 free throws to seal the nine-point win.

The Quakers were led by Toole, who overcame an 0 for 8 performance from the field the last time Penn played Yale to score 20 points. Ugonna Onyekwe added 18 points and 8 boards, while Archibong and Jeff Schiffner each had 10.

The Elis were led by their pair of freshman guards, Edwin Draughan - 11 points - and Alex Gamboa - 15 points. Gamboa hit 5 of 7 attempts from behind the three-point line.

The Quakers travel to Columbia and Cornell next weekend, and finish up their Ivy League schedule when they host Princeton on March 5.

In other Ivy League action on Saturday, Princeton topped Brown, 73- 47, Cornell beat Darmouth, 70-61, and Harvard stopped Columbia, 59-56.

The Tigers are atop the Ancient Eight with a 9-2 record. Yale is a half game back at 9-3, and Penn is one game back at 8-3.

Also on Saturday, the Penn women's basketball team could not overcome a poor start and fell to Yale, 78-69. Jewel Clark once again led the Quakers (10-14, 6-5 Ivy) with 22 points.
