Despite a loss to Cornell in its season opener, the Penn gymnastics team looks to vault back into top form at the George Washington Invitational tomorrow.
The competition will prove to be fierce, as the Quakers will battle five teams -- Cornell, George Washington, Temple, North Carolina and William and Mary.
Last weekend's loss to Cornell was a learning experience for the young team.
"It was the best thing for us -- it really got us working hard," Penn senior co-captain Lauren Hittner said. "Our whole team and our freshmen know how it's like out there."
This added experience should prove to be beneficial this weekend, especially as the Quakers are competing against two top-25 teams, George Washington and North Carolina.
"Our goal [on Saturday] is to improve on our performance and minimize the errors," Penn coach Frank Tovic said. "We might have been at a 65 percent hit range [against Cornell] and would like to make an 80 percent hit range."
The Red and Blue want to returning to their previous winning ways, as they have won four straight Ivy League titles.
"We're really excited [for Saturday]. We got the kinks out," Hittner said. "This is where the real start begins."
