RIDING IN CARS WITH BOYS *** Starring: Drew Bar

Though the plot to Riding In Cars with Boys sounds incredibly simple, on the big screen it sparkles as a tour-de-force for all the actors involved, with an especially stunning performance by Brittany Murphy. Containing a mix of humor and pathos, the story follows Beverly (Drew Barrymore), whose life is stymied from giving birth to a son at the age of 15 in 1960s America. Beverly declares in the movie, "All life is, is four or five big days that change your life," and in Riding in Cars with Boys, it is her five big days that make up the film, which incorporate flash-forwards to the drive she is taking with her son, Jason, to find his father (Steve Zahn). As the compelling saga draws you in, you wish that just one of those days would produce a fabulous change for Beverly. Though no fabulous changes occur within her five days, this chick-flick of a movie is still wonderful.
