Swimming names new assistant coach
The Penn men's and women's swimming teams, which underwent something of a renaissance last season under then-interim head coach Mike Schnur, welcomed another member on board this week as the athletic department named Nittaya McGuire assistant coach for both squads.
McGuire spent the past three years on the Main Line as an assistant for both the men's and women's teams at Villanova. The 1992 Emory graduate and former All-American was in charge of the daily operational management of the Wildcats program. At Villanova, McGuire coached one NCAA champion and helped guide the Wildcats to a 19th-place overall finish at the 1999 NCAA Championships.
McGuire acted as NCAA compliance liaison for 'Nova and has also served as meet director for the National Catholic High School Championships. Her many talents will surely come in handy as she assists Schnur in his first year as permanent head man.
