Three females affiliated with the University were robbed in separate incidents since Thursday, with two of the robberies occurring near 42nd Street. The victims were not seriously injured. University Police were not able to supply any details about the attacks last night other than the extremely limited information given in the University Police log book. On Saturday night, a female student was walking on the 4200 block of Locust Street when a man armed with a small handgun approached her as she reached the Fairfax Apartment building at 4247 Locust Street. The man took her handbag, containing a cellular phone and wallet, and then ran to a green jeep and fled the scene. The suspect is a black man between 17 and 20 years old, about 5'9" with a thin build. And on Thursday, a female affiliated with the University was walking on the 42nd block of Pine Street at about 11:30 p.m. when a man stole her sports bag from around her neck and then fled west on Pine Street. It was not clear last night whether the man was armed. The robber took the woman's black duffel bag containing $30 in cash and other items. The suspect is described to be about 40 years in age, about 5'9" with a thin build. In a third incident, University Police officers responded to a robbery in progress on the 3900 block of Pine Street at about 1 a.m. Saturday morning. After a brief struggle, the alleged robber -- identified as 34-year-old William Slaughter -- was arrested.
