As a first step in the search for a permanent Judicial Inquiry Officer, Vice Provost for University Life Kim Morrisson is in the process of fine-tuning the position's job description. Morrisson said this week that she will meet with groups representing various consituencies at the University to find out what qualities the campus community wants in the new JIO. The position will most likely be filled by June, Morrisson said. Jane Combrinck-Graham was appointed interim JIO in early September after Constance Goodman resigned to become the University's associate secretary. Combrinck-Graham is on temporary leave from her position as Associate Director of Risk Management. Goodman, who had been JIO since 1988, served as an interim JIO before being appointed permanently to the position, but Combrinck-Graham has declined to comment on whether she is seeking the position. Combrinck-Graham could be considered for the position if she asks to be, Morrisson said last month. After Morrisson finishes the job description and opens the search, a consultative search committee of faculty, students and staff will accept applications and will make recommendations to the VPUL. The search committee will probably be formed next month, Morrisson said. The student groups that Morrisson will consult with include the Undergraduate Assembly, the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly, and the Black Student League. Faculty leadership, primarily the Faculty Senate and other interested professors, will also have a say in what the job description reads. Morrisson said a final group that will be consulted prior to writing the job description is the deans of all the University's schools.
