The fact is that students (or at least their parents) are paying whopping tuition dollars to underwrite about one third of the University's budget. As the American founders might have said, "No tuition without representation." Indeed, students do serve on many crucial University committees. But recently some student leaders have complained that student opinion is being pushed aside. One instance in particular is the Committee to Review the Judicial Charter's rejection of a proposal to split the role of the JIO. Although all four students on the committee strongly backed the proposal, the administrators and faculty members on the committee overpowered the student voice. Such policy decisions have a direct impact on student life at the University. Student voices must be heard.
