Keeping this in mind, the College and Wharton both now require students to show proficiency in a foreign language to graduate. The provost has also made a commitment to expand study abroad and foreign exchange programs. Two schools, which in the past haven't provided much opportunity to study abroad, are now actively seeking to do so. This summer the Engineering School will sponsor four internships at the University of Tokyo, the University of Complutense in Spain; the Universite de Technologie de Compeigne in France and universities in Israel. The Nursing school is also planning to set up several study abroad programs in Europe. We strongly support these efforts. It's good to see the University taking the lead in such an important new realm for education.
