The tea, sponsored by the Order of Omega, a Greek National Honor Society, provided a chance for the faculty and administration to learn more about the Greek system on campus. "It's just a chance to get to know each other," said Lorraine Flores, a member of the Black Inter-Greek Council. Several Greek organizations, the Panhellenic Council, the Black Inter-Greek Council, and the Interfraternity Council, co-sponsored the event, held in Bodek Lounge. Despite the efforts of the council members, only six faculty members attended the tea. Bruce Forman, Interfraternity Council vice president for rush, said he felt the tea would have been very beneficial to faculty members. "Here was a prime opportunity for faculty to meet and talk about the Greek system and its role in the community and I believe they failed to take advantage of it," the Wharton junior said. Those who did attend the tea said they enjoyed the interaction between students and faculty. "The attempt was admirable [to have faculty and students meet] in a non-threatening environment," said African American Resource Center Director Allen Green. Yesterday's Omega tea was part of Greek Week and was the first of two teas to be held this year. -- Catherine Gray
