Hypnotist John Sacco, who has practiced the art of hypnotism for twelve years, will cast his spell on students tomorrow night in a fund raising performance for Campuses Against Cancer. According to College senior Stacy Kaufman, a co-founder of CAC, the "energetic" Sacco often takes 10 to 15 volunteers out of the audience to put "in funny situations and do funny things." Having entertained at five other schools that belong to CAC, Sacco also uses hypnosis professionally to help students in their academic pursuits as well as athletes. He is also known for his role of travel agent who -- through hypnosis -- brings people to another country or even another planet. "[It is] just a way for people to have a good time and to raise money, and do something for a good cause such as cancer research at the same time," said CAC co-founder Larry Schoen, a College sophomore. Campuses Against Cancer was found last October by Schoen and Kaufman. The present number of schools participating in the national organization is fifteen. Purposes of the CAC include raising money for cancer research and fulfilling community service functions by sponsoring educational programs on cancer and weekly cancer support group. Revenue from the show will be contributed to the Brain Tumor Society associated with the Dana-Farber Institute in Boston, as well as other cancer organizations. "I am sure that everybody at this university knows someone who has been touched by cancer," said Schoen. "The only way to find a cure is if there is money to do the research." Sacco will appear tomorrow night at 8 p.m. and tickets are available on Locust Walk and at the Annenberg Center Box Office for $5.
