The spokesperson said the man, whom he did not identify, was spotted by Officer Karin Annan carrying two large pillowcases filled with the items as he was getting into the subway station at 36th and Sansom Streets. After Annan called for backup, she went down and questioned the man because he looked suspicious, and then brought him back to University Police headquaters. About 30 minutes later, the student whose valuables had been stolen called University Police to report them missing. According to the spokesperson, the student came down to the station and identified the items. The suspect was taken to Philadelphia Police's 18th District Headquaters for booking. -- Peter Spiegel
