Chavez, a union and civil rights leader, has organized national grape boycotts to protest the use of cancerous pesticides. Farm workers who work with the pesticides often contract cancer. Chavez, who endorses non-violent methods of protest, will speak about how public action and policy affect farm workers. The speech is organized by El Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan and is sponsored by 28 organizations including Connaissance, Greenfield Intercultural Center and Graduate Student Associations Council. -- Michelle Filippo
