Starting tomorrow and running through Tuesday, the weekend is intended to allow minority students the chance to learn about University social and academic programs. "It's a very successful weekend," said Sonia Elliott, assistant director for minority recruitment. All minority students who were accepted on the early decision plan were invited for the weekend. Additional minority students who applied under the regular deadline have also been invited. Elliott said these students are picked randomly from the applicant pool. The extended weekend starts with registration on Saturday. Pizza receptions, parties, panel discussions and tours of Philadelphia are just some of the events planned for the students. Members of the United Minorities Council, as well as other students, will host the prospective students. "It really is a campus wide effort," Elliott said. -- Michelle Filippo
