The woman said she did not pursue criminal charges against her ex-boyfriend, College senior Avrum Kaufman, because she said she was told by an assistant district attorney that if he pled guilty he would be probably only be assigned to rehabilatation similar to what he is already participating in. Philadelphia Sex Crimes Officer David Povernick confirmed yesterday that a report on Kaufman remains on file. The woman said that in April 1990 Kaufman assaulted her on several occasions. Judicial Inquiry Officer Constance Goodman investigated her claims and offered him a settlement, the woman said last summer. The woman withdrew her support for the settlement, which included eviction from campus, individual and group therapy, compensation for some of her belongings he had destroyed and restraint from direct or third-party contact with her, in a letter to Goodman dated July 25. Kaufman was scheduled to graduate in May 1990, but the woman said his diploma will be withheld until he fulfills the terms of his settlement with the University. -- Christine Lutton
