Physical Plant Director of Maintenance and Utilities Louis Visco said yesterday that at approximately 1:45 p.m. Physical Plant workers evacuated the building and shut down power after detecting smoke and hearing a hissing noise coming out of the fifth floor electrical room. After evacuating the building and shutting down the power workers found water dripping onto the electrical wiring causing damage to the insulation between the fourth and fifth floors. Workers sealed the leak, repaired the insulation, and inspected the building for further electrical problems. No other permanent damage was discovered, Visco said. - Emily Culbertson
