Polsky, a Democrat running for state representative in the 166th District, is in the midst of "a critical race for the pro-choice movement," according to the Penn Students for Choice co-coordinator Jane Miller, whose group is sponsoring Polsky's visit to campus. Earlier this year, Polsky's opponent Freind who has sponsored several legislative bills to restrict abortions in Pennsylvania gave a heated speech on campus marked by hecklers and protests. Tonight's speech will also feature a presentation by Ed Tiryak, chief legal counsel for the Northeast Women's Center. Tiryak will be profiling the recent violence at local abortion clinics. Polsky and Tiryak will be speaking tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the South Lounge of McClelland Hall. The speech is free and open to the public. Seth Krasilovsky
