There’s dominant, then there’s whatever Penn baseball third baseman senior Wyatt Henseler has been at the plate during his four years in the Red and Blue.
Over his Quaker career, Henseler has blasted through the record books with his remarkable power swing, racking up 215 hits, 177 RBIs, and an Ivy League record 51 home runs. Henseler has also broken the program single-season home run record in each of the last three seasons, most recently sending 19 — and counting — balls over the wall during his senior season.
Henseler’s individual excellence has also coincided with an era of remarkable team success for the Red and Blue.
The Quakers won regular season Ivy titles in Henseler's sophomore and junior years, and in the latter, they advanced to the NCAA tournament, where they fell one win shy of becoming the first Ancient Eight team to advance to a Super Regional. Though this year’s iteration of the Red and Blue is currently fighting for a spot in the conference tournament with a 9-9 record in the Ivy, Henseler has continued to do his part, providing the team with a live bat and solid fielding game in and game out.
Regardless of how his final season at Penn plays out, Henseler’s legacy as arguably the greatest hitter in program history is secure.
