CNN has announced that its nationally televised debate scheduled for Mar. 1 has been canceled.

This news came after three of the four remaining GOP candidates notified CNN that they would not be attending. Newt Gingrich was the only candidate to confirm his attendance. Gingrich has relied on the televised debates to boost his campaign, and the cancellation of the debate will surely come as a disappointment to the former Speaker of the House.

The question still remains as to why the other candidates canceled their attendance to the debate. Could it be because they feel like there have been enough debates? Possibly.

Or maybe it’s because they want to concentrate on the slew of upcoming state caucuses? This is a possibility as well.

Perhaps Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney are both satisfied with being at the front of the race. Ron Paul, on the other hand, is likely just sick of the debates and wants to work on grabbing delegates.

Whatever their reasons may be, they have seen Gingrich rise many times because of solid debate performances.
