Student arrested at airport
Cybill Shepherd’s son allegedly took personal items from passengers’ carry-on bags
· January 12, 2010, 11:54 pm
College undergraduate Cyrus Shepherd-Oppenheim, 22, was arrested Tuesday morning at Philadelphia International Airport for allegedly stealing other passengers’ personal belongings, according to Lieutenant Frank Vanore, a spokesman for the Philadelphia Police Department.
The alleged crime occurred during an United Airlines overnight flight from San Francisco to Philadelphia.
After attendants asked that all carry-on luggage be stowed for landing, two passengers reported that personal items, including money, a digital camera, paperwork and “travel folders” were missing, Vanore said.
Other passengers then noted that they had seen Shepherd-Oppenheim removing items from those bags while the owners were asleep.
The items were later found in the airplane’s restroom.
Upon landing, police were called to the airport gate, and Shepherd-Oppenheim was taken into custody at an airport holding area. He was later moved to the 55th and Pine police station for processing and fingerprinting.
As of press time, Shepherd-Oppenheim was in police custody and awaiting a court date for a hearing for the charge of theft by unlawful taking and receiving of stolen property.
Ron Ozio, director of media relations for the University, confirmed that Shepherd-Oppenheim is enrolled at Penn, but was unable to provide further details of his status as a student for “privacy reasons.”
Shepherd-Oppenheim is the son of actress Cybill Shepherd.
Shepherd appeared in the 1976 movie Taxi Driver, and made a recent cameo in the television series Criminal Minds. She had her own television show from 1995 to 1998, titled Cybill.
Shepherd-Oppenheim and Shepherd’s press agent could not be reached for comment by press time.

I'm no lawyer, but please explain to me how leaving all of the items in the airplane bathroom contributes to receiving stolen property? Criminal mischief, maybe; theft by unlawful taking, possibly. But he didn't even attempt to keep anything.

This is a lesson more folks could do to learn. Despite a recent resurgence in the popularity of high school Latin classes, contemporary America shows dismal appreciation for the Classics.

Between 1730 and when it was shut down by Parliament with the Currency Act of 1764, the Pennsylvania Colony made its own paper money to account for the shortage of actual gold and silver . The paper money was called Colonial Scrip. The Colony issued "bills of credit", which were as good as gold or silver coins because of their legal tender status. Since they were issued by the government and not a banking institution, it was an interest-free proposition, largely defraying the expense of the government and therefore taxation of the people. It also promoted general employment and prosperity, since the Government used discretion and did not issue too much to inflate the currency . Benjamin Franklin had a hand in creating this currency, of which he said its utility was never to be disputed, and it also met with the "cautious approval" of Adam Smith.

You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be really something which I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and very broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!
