After a year, we’re glad to see movement on late-night dining, but our stomachs are still grumbling

For more than a year, students looking for a late-night bite have been limited to trips down to Wawa, 7-Eleven and greasy pizza. While we are by no means complaining about Wawa’s scrumptious mac ‘n’ cheese, the lack of on-campus options has been a serious problem for over a year.

We’re glad that the Undergraduate Assembly and Business Services are beginning to seriously work on this issue, but we wish that solutions had materialized by this point. Students have made their wishes clear in multiple surveys over the years, and this is an area that can have a direct impact on students’ day-to-day lives. And although there are worries that a late-night option in Houston would not be profitable, its location near the library and most freshmen dorms would help the students most likely to utilize the options. But no matter where a late-night option eventually opens, we’ll be there.

Follow Up

Last Friday, over 3,000 students were whisked through the ARCH Building to receive their swine-flu shot. The process was, for most students, a breeze — at many points throughout the day, students never even had to stand still, and the wait during peak times was minimal. Although the clinics were unfortunately delayed for reasons out of Student Health Service’s control, SHS executed the entire day with an impressive efficiency that would make factories and amusement parks jealous. As students squeezing the trip in between classes and other appointments, we’re grateful for their efforts.

An editorial, also called a leading article, is a piece of writing intended to promote an opinion or perspective. Editorials are featured in many newspapers and magazines, usually written by the senior editorial staff or publisher of the publication . Additionally, most print publications feature an editorial, or letter from the editor, sometimes followed by a Letters to the Editor section. The American Society of Magazine Editors has developed a list of editorial guidelines, to which a majority of American magazine editors commonly adhere.

An abbreviation (from Latin brevis, meaning "short") is a shortened form of a word or phrase. Usually, but not always , it consists of a letter or group of letters taken from the word or phrase. For example, the word abbreviation can itself be represented by the abbreviation abbr. or abbrev.

In strict analysis, abbreviations should not be confused with contractions or acronyms (including initialisms), with which they share some semantic and phonetic functions, though all three are connoted by the term "abbreviation" in loose parlance.[]:p167. However, normally acronyms are regarded as a subgroup of abbreviations (e.g. by the Council of Science Editors).
