Former Marketing professor Scott Ward will be sentenced today after having pleaded guilty to child-pornography charges last November.
Ward could face 15 years to life in prison for trying to convince a 16-year-old Brazilian boy to engage in sexual activities and lying to authorities to secure a visa for the boy.
His sentencing has been postponed several times, most recently on June 4.
According to Patricia Hartman, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's Office, "all parties [had] agreed to delay the sentencing" until today.
Witnesses may be called to testify during the hearing, according to Bea Witzleben, a prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Ward's attorney, Mark Sheppard, did not return requests for comment on the case.
Ward was first arrested on Aug. 9, 2006, at Dulles International Airport in Virginia.
Officials found child pornography on his laptop as well as pornographic materials in his luggage, leading to the arrest.
Child pornography was also found in his Huntsman Hall office at Penn, which led to additional criminal charges in Pennsylvania.
Ward pleaded guilty to producing child pornography for importation into the United States in February 2007.
Following that guilty plea, he received a 15-year prison sentence and a $17,500 fine in May 2007.
Ward is currently serving his 15-year sentence at a low-security corrections facility in Western Pennsylvania.
In addition, Ward was charged in March 2008 with engaging in inappropriate sexual activity with a young boy whom he met in Brazil.
Authorities say he lured the boy with expensive gifts for both him and his impoverished family, particularly the boy's mother.
Ward also attempted to obtain a visa for the boy so that he could come visit him in his home in Cape Cod, Mass.
U.S. District Judge Petrese Tucker will preside over today's sentencing.
