A DNA test by the Philadelphia Police Department linked Dominique Wilson, 23, to the armed home invasion and sexual assault that occurred on the 4400 block of Spruce Street in December.

"We are convinced that this is the perpetrator," said Capt. John Darby of the PPD, according to an article from FOX. "We have identified the criminal."

Wilson was arrested in Lock Haven, Pa., last week for allegedly sexually assaulting three students at Lock Haven University.

A viewer of WTAJ News, located in Central Pennsylvania, noticed the similarities between the Lock Haven and Philadelphia attacks and contacted the station.

The suspects in both attacks used knives, bound their victims and took their ATM cards and cell phones.

The PPD sent investigators to Lock Haven to obtain the DNA sample.

At a press conference yesterday afternoon, Darby said there was "a definitive link" between Wilson and the sexual assaults in Philadelphia, according to the FOX article.

Wilson used to live on South 51st Street, just several blocks from the location of the Penn assault.

According to an article by CBS, he recently tried to escape from the Clinton County Correctional Facility, where he is currently being held. He removed the caulk from around a cell window and tried to kick out the pane.

He has been placed on suicide watch, according to the article.

I am curious as to why it took the DP so long to file a story about the arrest. This story hit the PHiladelphia newspapers last friday, and the DP didn't report it til today, and buried it in a "news brief" on page 5. This is arguably the most serious crime against a Penn student(s) in a decade, that caused great fear among people (esp women) around campus. And the DP waits six days to report the arrest, and leads with a headline about a spring fling singer who will perform months from now? What's the operating definition of "newsworthy" here?
