What was formerly known as "Wynn Commons" will be renamed "Penn Commons," the University confirmed in a statement.
Amid rumors of the name change, University spokesperson Stephen MacCarthy wrote in an email to The Daily Pennsylvanian that replacing Wynn's name with Penn "is the current plan."
Late last month, dozens accused 1963 College graduate and former trustee Steve Wynn of sexual misconduct.
A week later, the University announced it would remove Wynn's name from "Wynn Commons," the area outside Houston Hall, rescind his honorary degree, and remove his name from a scholarship. The plaza was named for Wynn in 1995 after he donated $7.5 million to Penn. The University has since bricked over the sign to cover Wynn's name.
