Keep your coat, gloves and scarves handy: the below-freezing weather isn’t going away anytime soon.

The city of Philadelphia and Montgomery County have declared a Code Blue, in effect until 6 a.m. Monday.

According to a Montgomery County press release, “A Code Blue Cold Weather Declaration is made in Montgomery County when winter conditions pose a threat of serious harm or death to individuals without shelter. A Code Blue is called when the combination of air temperature and wind chill is anticipated to be 20ºF or less.”

In response to the Code Blue, the city has initiated a 24-hour outreach effort to find an indoor space for people who are homeless, according to 6abc Action News. An emergency housing network will open all of its beds to anyone still seeking indoor shelter.

The city encourages people to call (215) 232-1984 if they see someone who needs indoor shelter.
