Several fraudulent employers have appeared recently in the PennLink job search database, Career Services Associate Director David S. Ross said in an email on Thursday.
While Career Services reviews each employer who registers for PennLink, Ross said scammers have become "increasingly crafty." He advised students seeking jobs to be "savvy" and not send credit card, bank account or other personal info to an employer through PennLink.
"Recent scams have used the names of real organizations and slightly modified their email addresses to avoid suspicion," Ross wrote.
Career Services is "not responsible for the legitimacy of the jobs posted or the employers" on PennLink, according to a statement on their website.
