On Saturday, stormwater flooded the area of Huntsman Hall on the ground floor by the Walnut Street entrance. By Sunday, the water had been cleaned up, but stains on the carpet remained and that area of the building was closed off.
The large lecture classroom near Huntsman's Walnut Street entrance, room G06, is currently at least in partial operation.
The cause of the flooding was likely related to the heavy snow in the area yesterday. Philadelphia was expected to receive around eight inches of snow this weekend, according to philly.com. Penn maintenance personnel could not be reached over the weekend for comment or to confirm the cause of the flooding.
At least two student organizations have cancelled their activities in the building because of the flooding. Alpha Phi Omega, the service fraternity, told its members on Sunday its chapter meeting was cancelled due to Huntsman's flood damage. Alpha Delta Pi, slated to have a chapter meeting in room G06 tonight, moved its meeting location.
Maintenance equipment lined the wall near the Walnut Street entrance as of press time, including electrical cords, a bucket with a mop and a fan.
