The Social Planning and Events Committee and the Mask and Wig Club announced yesterday that comedian Tom Green will host the 2010 Annual Intercollegiate Comedy Festival.
Also known as ComFest, the event — which is in its twelfth year — will be held on Feb. 10 in the Zellerbach Theater.
Green, a native of Canada, is best know for his appearances in The New Tom Green Show, Road Trip, Charlie’s Angels and Stealing Harvard.
College senior and Mask and Wig Club Chairman R.J. Wynn said Green was chosen to perform because, “he has really big name appeal.”
“He is someone people our age remember and appreciate,” he added.
Previous ComFest hosts have included Bob Saget, Kevin Nealon, Stephen Colbert, Tim Meadows, Gilbert Gottfried, Ana Gasteyer, Dan Bakkedahl, Kenan Thompson and, most recently, Judah Friedlander.
According to the Mask and Wig web site, ComFest is the nation’s premier intercollegiate comedy festival and showcases the talents of the best collegiate sketch comedy troupes.
In addition to performances by Mask and Wig, Sketchup of the University of Maryland, Hello Shovelhead from Boston College and the Triangle Club from Princeton University are also slated to perform.
